Kailyn McCord writes fiction and nonfiction in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her story “Whatever Martha She Becomes,” received an honorable mention in Glimmer Train’s Fall 2017 Short Story Award for New Writers, and her essay “Annii: A Portrait” was a finalist in Gazing Grain’s 2016 Chapbook Contest. Her work has appeared in The Believer, The Rumpus, BlazeVOX, and Phantom Drift, among others. Kailyn holds a BA from Reed College and an MFA from the University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop, where she was the Associate Editor of Bayou Magazine, coordinator of the Gold Room Reading Series, and recipient of the Joanna Leake Award for Best Thesis. She enjoys running with her retired sled dog, Deviline, and rooting for the Saints.
