Kyla Marshell

Kyla Marshell is a creative writer whose poetry and nonfiction have appeared in The GuardianGawkerBuzzFeed, Kinfolk, O, the Oprah Magazine and elsewhere. She has earned fellowships from Cave Canem and the MacDowell Colony; Ebony.com named her one of “7 Young Black Writers You Should Know.” She is currently at work on a memoir about a chance encounter with a distant relative which leads her to seek out other lost and hidden members of her family. She is a Spelman College and Sarah Lawrence graduate, and lives in New York. kylamarshell.com
