In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tucci revealed that he would never play George Harvey from The Lovely Bones again, despite receiving an Oscar nomination for the role.

He described the experience as “horrible” and “tough” due to the character’s sadistic nature.

Tucci had initially attempted to back out of the role, questioning director Peter Jackson’s decision to cast him.

Jackson explained that Tucci’s comedic background would prevent the portrayal from becoming overly dramatic, an approach that Tucci eventually understood and appreciated.

Delving into the Citadel Universe

Tucci’s latest project, Citadel, is an action-packed spy thriller from the Russo Brothers set to premiere on Prime Video.

In the series, Tucci stars as Bernard Orlick, a sophisticated and ruthless operative of the eponymous Citadel, an independent global agency.

He works alongside characters portrayed by Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who have had their memories erased.

Discussing his character in an interview with CBR, Tucci shared that Orlick is a trustworthy person who lies and deceives for the greater good of Citadel.

The actor is also excited about the possibilities the Citadel universe presents in terms of future spinoffs and crossovers, praising the enormous scale and complexity of the series.

Working with Richard Madden and Building Relationships on Set

Tucci and Madden, who had not previously worked together, developed a strong bond on the set of Citadel.

Madden explained that working with Tucci brought out the best in him as an actor, while Tucci echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the company of fellow cast members during long, tedious hours on set.

The duo eagerly anticipates the release of the series’ sixth episode, though they refrained from sharing any spoilers.

Citadel is set to premiere on Prime Video on April 28, with two initial episodes and a new one every Friday thereafter.
