Trish Stratus Returns to WWE at WrestleMania 39

Wrestling legend Trish Stratus is making her return to the ring after two decades.

Stratus will be teaming with Becky Lynch and Lita in a tag-team match against Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai at WrestleMania 39.

Stratus is dedicated to giving back to the industry she loves and is proud of the progress made by women in wrestling.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Stratus spoke about her decision to return and how she plans to give back to the industry she loves.

The Trish Stratus and Lita Rivalry

Stratus and Lita were once heated rivals, but now they are back together for WrestleMania 39.

The two women revolutionized women’s wrestling in the early 2000s and paved the way for the women’s revolution that is happening in WWE today.

In the interview with Sports Illustrated, Stratus described her first impressions of Lita and the impact their rivalry had on the industry.

“I was totally intimidated by her. She could do crazy s— in the ring. I’d been training for three months…I looked at her as the wrestler. I wasn’t there yet. But I wanted to prove I could hang with her,” said Stratus.

Making the Most of Time on Air

Throughout her career, Trish Stratus made the most of her time on air. “If I had two minutes, I wanted to make it the best two minutes I had,” said Stratus.

She went from a bikini model to a wrestler, using her speaking skills and athleticism to become a representation and voice for women in wrestling.

Stratus and Lita broke barriers and turned themselves into stars, despite not being initially seen as top stars.

Retirement and Return

Stratus retired from wrestling in 2019 after a match against Charlotte Flair.

However, she is now back and ready for WrestleMania 39. Stratus says she will only come back if it’s fun, and she loves passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of wrestlers.

In the interview, she spoke about the progress made by women in wrestling, saying “the same attention is given to us as the males, whereas back in the day, it wasn’t quite like that.”

Wrestling Feels Like Home

Trish Stratus is in peak physical condition due to her love for yoga.

She remains a proud Canadian athlete and is one of the most recognizable stars in Canadian wrestling history.

Stratus loves being back in the ring and says “wrestling feels like home.” She knows how to work with the crowd and loves being in front of a live audience.

Never Say Never

Stratus’ return may not just be a one-off. After teasing a possible singles match in the future, Stratus says she is a fan of all the members of Damage CTRL and is excited to see how their styles will play out in the ring.

With the world of women’s wrestling as her oyster, Stratus says she may have stuck around longer had the division been as deep as it is today.
