Taylor Swift Releases Re-recordings from ‘The Hunger Games’ Ahead of Eras Tour

In celebration of her Eras Tour kickoff in Glendale, Arizona, Taylor Swift is releasing re-recordings of “Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version)” and “Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version)” featuring Joy William and John Boy Music from the soundtrack of the popular 2012 film, ‘The Hunger Games.’

These revamped tracks come at the perfect time, as a resurgence of interest in the ‘Hunger Games’ film series has emerged following their recent arrival on Netflix.

In addition to the ‘Hunger Games’ re-recordings, Swift is also releasing “If This Was a Movie (Taylor’s Version)” from her album ‘Speak Now,’ and “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” a previously unreleased track recorded during her “Lovers” era in 2019.

Swift’s Connection to ‘The Hunger Games’

Taylor Swift’s involvement in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise began in 2011 when she contributed two original songs to the film’s companion album, “The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond.”

The album, which features various artists, was carefully curated to complement the themes and atmosphere of the movie.

“Eyes Open” and “Safe & Sound” were originally part of the soundtrack, with the latter featuring the Civil Wars.

“Safe & Sound,” which was released at the end of 2011, went on to earn Swift a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The song’s haunting melody and poignant lyrics perfectly captured the dystopian world of Panem and the emotional journey of the film’s protagonist, Katniss Everdeen.

Swift has often expressed her admiration for the ‘Hunger Games’ series, both the books and the films.

In various interviews, she has shared her excitement about being involved in the project and how the opportunity to contribute to the soundtrack allowed her to explore different themes and styles in her songwriting.

Additional Tracks and Swift’s Re-recording Journey

In addition to the ‘Hunger Games’ re-recordings, Swift is also releasing “If This Was a Movie (Taylor’s Version)” from her album ‘Speak Now,’ and “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” a previously unreleased track recorded during her “Lovers” era in 2019.

This release of four new songs coincides with the start of Swift’s biggest tour to date, and serves as a gift to her dedicated fans who struggled to secure tickets through Ticketmaster, which led to multiple lawsuits against the ticketing giant.

The singer has been re-recording her early catalog to regain control of her master recordings after her former label, Big Machine, sold the original master recordings of her music catalog in 2019.

Swift has previously released “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” in 2021. Fans speculate that ‘Speak Now’ may be the next re-recorded album she plans to release, but the singer has not yet confirmed which album is next.

As Swift continues to revisit and revamp her earlier works, she is not only reclaiming control over her music but also providing her fans with fresh interpretations of her beloved songs.

The release of the re-recorded ‘Hunger Games’ tracks is a testament to her commitment to her art and her connection to the iconic franchise.
