Canadian rapper Drake has recently made headlines with a preview of his new song “Rescue Me” that samples audio of Kim Kardashian discussing her divorce from Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

The track was played during an episode of Sound 42’s The Fry Yiy Show on SiriusXM Radio, and it appears to be a strategic decision as rumors had once circulated that Drake and Kardashian had been romantically involved.

Kim Kardashian’s Divorce Audio Sampled

In the new track, Kardashian’s audio from the series finale of E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians is featured, where she tells her mother, Kris Jenner, “I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.”

Although Kardashian has denied the hookup rumors and even Ye confirmed that nothing happened between the two, he accused the “Nice for What” rapper of acting as if he had slept with his ex-wife. This inclusion in Drake’s song seems to be a direct taunt to Ye.

Drake and Ye’s Long-Standing Feud

Drake and Ye have a history of beef between them, which was reignited in August 2021 when Drake took shots at Ye in his verse off Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal.”

Ye retaliated by leaking Drake’s home address on social media, which led to further back-and-forth between the two rappers.

They appeared to have buried the hatchet when they performed together at the “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert in Los Angeles in late 2021, organized by J. Prince.

However, this latest move by Drake seems to indicate that the feud is far from over.

The two rappers have had a tumultuous relationship for years, with Ye even claiming that Drake had slept with Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, which was never acknowledged by the famed momager.

Ye’s Life After Divorce

Ye and Kardashian’s divorce was finalized on November 29, 2022, and less than two months later, Ye reportedly remarried Bianca Censori, Yeezy’s head of architecture.

During their divorce proceedings, Ye pleaded with Kardashian to “run right back to me” while performing his “Runaway” magnum opus from his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Despite their rivalry, there was a brief moment of reconciliation in October 2022, when Ye took to Instagram to express his appreciation for Drake liking one of his posts. However, with the release of “Rescue Me,” it seems that the animosity between the two artists may still be alive and well.

A Brief History of the Tumultuous Relationship of the Two Artists

The Drake and Kanye West feud began on a subtle note when Drake released his hit single “Forever” featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem in 2009.

Although the song showcased the talents of all four artists, some fans and critics argued that Drake outshined Kanye on the track.

Around the same time, Drake expressed his admiration for Kanye’s work, but also hinted at a competitive relationship.

Throughout the early 2010s, Drake and Kanye continued to collaborate on various projects, such as Kanye’s “All of the Lights” remix and Drake’s “Pop Style.”

However, tensions were building under the surface. In a 2013 interview, Kanye admitted to being envious of Drake’s success and referred to him as a “rap god.”

Kanye also criticized Drake’s music and collaborations with brands like Nike and Apple, which further fueled the rivalry.
