Tory Lanez, a.k.a. Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
In late March, Lanez filed a motion in Los Angeles County Superior Court requesting a new trial, which has been opposed by prosecutors.
Lanez’s attorneys have also suggested that he may appeal the verdict if a new trial is not granted.
