Grammy-winning Producer BloodPop and Gaming Industry Veteran Aubrey Tennant Launch Game Studio

Renowned Grammy-winning music producer BloodPop, who has collaborated with artists like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, has announced the launch of a new game development studio, GenPop Interactive.

The project is in partnership with former DeNA and Bandai Namco executive Aubrey Tennant.

Michael Tucker, better known as BloodPop, has made a name for himself in the music industry as a versatile and accomplished musician, songwriter, and producer.

The studio aims to create original AAA games that will shape the future of music, fashion, and gaming culture, focusing on providing unique experiences for the Gen-Z audience.

An Ambitious First Project: Redefining the Shooter Genre

GenPop Interactive, comprising more than 25 developers with experience on acclaimed titles such as Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077, The Sims, and more, is working on its first project – an ambitious third-person shooter featuring novel movement and combat mechanics.

The game is targeted at the Gen-Z audience and aims to redefine the shooter genre with a layered social world that evolves based on community feedback.

BloodPop, the CEO and game director of GenPop Interactive, expressed his vision for the upcoming game, stating that Gen-Z is eager for new IPs that speak to them and have a long legacy defining their generation.

He also criticized major studios for becoming complacent and relying on repackaging old IPs.

Funding and Future Plans: Building a Cross-Media Experience

GenPop Interactive has successfully raised $6.5 million in funding from various companies and individuals, including Studio Trigger, the animation studio behind popular animes like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Kill la Kill.

Other investors in the seed funding round include Makers Fund, Xbox co-creator Ed Fries’ 1Up Ventures, and Good Smile Company, creators of collectible figure lines Nendoroid and POP UP PARADE.

The company’s co-founder and COO, Aubrey Tennant, expressed excitement about sharing their upcoming game with more people in the coming months, while BloodPop, the CEO and game director, emphasized their mission to nurture the next generation of popular culture.

Andrew Willson from Makers Fund praised the team at GenPop for creating an incredible game world that expertly blends the best of game, music, and pop culture.

Michael Tucker, better known as BloodPop, has made a name for himself in the music industry as a versatile and accomplished musician, songwriter, and producer.

Over the years, he has assumed various monikers, such as Blood Diamonds, Blood, and Michael Diamond.

Born on August 15, 1990, in Kansas City, Missouri, BloodPop’s journey into the music world began with a keen interest in electronic music production.

BloodPop’s career took off when he started working with Canadian artist Grimes, producing her critically acclaimed song “Go,” which was originally written for Rihanna.

This collaboration opened doors for BloodPop, leading him to work with other prominent artists in the industry.

His talent for creating exceptional music has earned him a reputation in the industry as a sought-after producer.

In 2016, BloodPop met Lady Gaga through producer Mark Ronson, and the two began working together on Gaga’s fifth studio album, “Joanne.”

Their professional relationship continued with the production of Gaga’s sixth studio album, “Chromatica,” released in May 2020.

The album features the hit single “Stupid Love,” which BloodPop co-wrote and co-produced.

Recently, BloodPop received an emotional tribute from Lady Gaga during her performance at the 95th Academy Awards.

Lady Gaga delivered a heartfelt, stripped-down rendition of her Oscar-nominated ballad “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, acknowledging her friend and collaborator BloodPop for their work together.

As BloodPop ventures into the world of game development with the launch of GenPop Interactive, his diverse background and experience in music production are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the gaming world, influencing the next generation of popular culture.
